Hello Jonathan. Alignment markers for which process? We are always open to discussing best practices and showing the best solutions. What were you thinking?

I may have missed it in other videos, but it would be cool to see how notches or alignment marks would be added to two pieces when making the pattern. Thanks for these awesome videos!

@@JonathanCalkins Yes I can see where that would be very useful. We don't specialize in the pattern making side so this might be more geared to the end user. We do focus our specialty in 3D scanning for data capture. If we do come across something like this we will definitely post it. Thanks for the great nice comment.

Global is suggested when you align mesh data together. With the new Artec Ray II all the scans come in together but you should run global right before running fusion.

Hello Shawn. We are using the SIMSCAN30 but the SIMSCAN42 is awesome and should work the same. I think this might have been a pervious version comared to the updated software. The purpose for scanning the underneath of the car is to create data so that the customer can create aftermarket exhaust systems. The data can also be used to create skid plates or design for air flow analysis. This specific process was for aftermarket exhaust. Unfortunately we don't have this scan to provide. Artec Eva is pretty amazing.

This 3D measuring arm / scanner is not meant to scan a room. You can look at our other videos and look up Artec Ray. That would be better for scanning a room or building. It can scan up to 110 meters away.

Yes, absolutely. You can take measurements between points or you can take measurements between. Geomagic has multiple ways to take measurements.

Hello Maynard. While you are scanning the software is doing a real-time alignment. It is actually not slipping but the rendering while scanning might look a little off. When you are done scanning and the software has an alignment processes that uses common points to create the accurate model. The scanner is capturing about 30-60K points per second.
